The Provincial Association of Silesia was a higher municipal association that existed from 1876 to 1919 and again from 1938 to 1941 in the territory of the Prussian province of Silesia .

structure

The provincial administration was created in 1875 by law from the state poor association. Its organs were the provincial parliament , the provincial committee and the governor as head of administration. Regional councils and regional building councils were assigned to him as department heads. The governor was the chairman of the respective administrative body.

The Provincial Administration of Silesia was located in the Provincial House of Silesia in Breslau .

November 8, 1919 - formation of the new Upper Silesia Province from the Opole administrative district , previously the Silesian Province; Renaming of the province of Silesia to Lower Silesia . After the division of the state provincial authorities, the old Provincial Association of Silesia has now also been divided into the two new self-governing bodies Lower Silesia and Upper Silesia .
