Prudencio Cortés Sánchez (born November 12, 1951 in El Salto , Jalisco ), also known by the nickname El Pajarito ( The Little Bird ), is a former Mexican football player in the position of goalkeeper .

career

Cortés began his career at that time in the second division playing CD Zamora .

In the summer of 1970 he was signed by the capital club, Club América , with whom he won the Mexican football championship in his first season in 1970/71 and is still the youngest goalkeeper to be used by a championship team at Club America . In total, he completed fifteen missions in the 1970/71 championship season. He also won the 1974 Mexican Cup with the Americanistas .

In 1975 he moved to the UAG Tecos, which had just been promoted to the top division . With the club based in his home state of Jalisco, "Pajarito" Cortés was under contract until the end of his active career and acted as his goalkeeper for long periods.

El Pajarito was featured six times for the Mexican national team: twice in 1972 and the other four times in 1981.
