Pseudorhipsalis lankesteri is a species of plant in the genus Pseudorhipsalis from the cactus family(Cactaceae). The epithet of the species honors Charles H. Lankester, the discoverer of the species.

description

The main shoots of Pseudorhipsalis lankesteri are round at the base, up to 65 centimeters long and 6 to 10 millimeters wide. The bristle-free areoles are in 3 rows. The green side shoots appear in 3 rows at the base of the main shoots. They are rounded at the base, flattened above and thin. The side shoots become narrower towards the tip, are lanceolate to linear or elliptical in shape and are 1 to 20 centimeters long.

The individually appearing, hanging and slightly curved wheel-shaped flowers are cream-colored. They are 19 to 24 millimeters long and reach a diameter of 18 to 23 millimeters. The magenta to pink fruits are translucent and have a diameter of 8 to 11 millimeters.

Distribution, systematics and endangerment

Pseudorhipsalis lankesteri is widespread in southern Costa Rica at altitudes of 670 to 1000 meters. The first description as Disocactus lankesteri was published in 1979 by Myron William Kimnach . Wilhelm Barthlott placed the species in 1991 in the genus Pseudorhipsalis .

In the Red List of Threatened Species of the IUCN , the species is called " Data Deficient (DD) ", i. H. with insufficient data.
