Psusennes III.

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Psusennes III. (also known as Pasebakhaennuit III. ) was an ancient Egyptian high priest of Amun who lived at the end of the 21st Dynasty . Little is known about him and it is believed that he is identical to Pharaoh Psusennes II . Others doubt its existence.

His name appears in a document that identifies him as the son of High Priest Pinudjem II . This speaks for the thesis that he was in truth Psusennes II, since Pinudjem II died in the tenth year of the reign of Pharaoh Siamun , who was the direct predecessor of Psusennes II.

Another theory claims that Psusennes III. ruled in Tanis and his younger brother took care of politics in Thebes . This younger brother could have been Psusennes II, whose existence is also not completely certain.
