Ptahhotep , also Ptah-hotep , was an ancient Egyptian vizier and city administrator who lived towards the end of the Old Kingdom and served under Isesi , the penultimate pharaoh of the 5th dynasty .
meaning
In later times he was the author of a total of 37 life maxims , which are considered the oldest completely preserved wisdom doctrine and earned him the nickname The Wise . A copy of this maxim of Ptahhotep also teachings of Ptahhotep , the Papyrus Prisse , is in the Bibliothèque nationale de France . The doctrine in the surviving versions dates to the Middle Kingdom and New Kingdom .
