Life

Elisabeth Haich was born in Budapest on March 20, 1897 and was an excellent piano player even as a child. She studied music and sculpture and then opened a studio in Budapest. She was interested in spirituality and esotericism and, as a mystic, also claimed a special knowledge of the symbolism of the Bible . Familiar with Hindu philosophy, she met the Indian Selvarajan Yesudian in Budapest , who gave lectures on yoga. In 1939 they both opened Hungary's first yoga school in their studio.

After the communist regime closed the yoga school in Budapest, Elisabeth Haich and Selvarajan Yesudian fled to Zurich with the aim of going to California . However, they stayed in Switzerland and opened yoga schools in several Swiss cities between 1949 and 1955. In the early 1950s she gave yoga classes in Diano Marina (Italy) and founded the yoga summer school in Ponte Tresa in Ticino .

Elisabeth Haich was an internationally recognized sculptor, painter and pianist. Together with Selvarajan Yesudian, she was instrumental in spreading and popularizing yoga in Central Europe. At the yoga summer school in Ponte Tresa, she also exhibited her own artistic works. Elisabeth Haich published three books that dealt with esotericism , spirituality and yoga . She also worked as a co-author of Selvarajan Yesudian's yoga books.
