Diano Marina is an Italian port on the Italian Riviera . It has 5835 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) and is located in the province of Imperia , Liguria region .

The place covers an area of ​​6 km² and has a population density of 1048 inhabitants / km². The neighboring municipalities are Diano San Pietro , Diano Castello , Imperia and San Bartolomeo al Mare .

history

In 1887 the place was almost completely destroyed by an earthquake. In addition to the small medieval remains, the architectural style of the late 19th and early 20th centuries dominates the center.

The medieval Diano Castello rises above Diano Marina . It is a separate municipality and does not belong to the municipality of Diano Marina.

Diano Marina has seen a remarkable boom since 2000. In the evening, almost the entire old town is a pedestrian zone with many bars, pizzerias and restaurants.
