The territory of the municipality is divided into three settlement areas: San Bartolomeo , Pairola and Chiappa . The settlements of Rovere , Poiolo , Viali , Steri , San Simone , Richieri , Freschi , Tre Molini , Molini and Rocca belong to San Bartolomeo al Mare . The municipality is about nine kilometers away from the provincial capital Imperia .
