Rocchetta Nervina (in Ligurian : A Ruchétta ) is a northern Italian municipality with 296 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the Liguria region . Politically it belongs to the province of Imperia .

geography

The medieval village of Rocchetta Nervina is located on the slope of Monte Terca , near the confluence of the Rio Oggia into the Barbaira in Val Nervia . The Barbaira has created several water basins of different sizes above the village, the "Laghetti di Rocchetta Nervina". The distance to the coast of the Ligurian Sea is about 13 kilometers. This location in the hinterland of Ventimiglia gives Rocchetta Nervina a largely constant mild climate throughout the year.

On the territory of Rocchetta Nervina is the junction of the Ligurian High Trail and the Sentiero Balcone hiking trail . This connects Sanremo with Nice and Menton .

The municipality belongs to the Comunità Montana Intemelia and is about 53 kilometers from the provincial capital Imperia .
