Pornassio (in Ligurian : Purnàssiu ) is a northern Italian municipality with 670 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the Liguria region . Politically it belongs to the province of Imperia .
geography
Pornassio is located in a south-facing valley depression, in a transition zone from an alpine to a Mediterranean environment. The community itself consists of five widely scattered settlements along an ancient salt road . The settlements of Ponti di Pornassio , Villa , San Luigi , Ottano-Case Rosse and Nava have a maximum difference in altitude of 500 meters between them. Pornassio belongs to the Comunità Montana Alta Valle Arrocscia and is about 34 kilometers from the provincial capital Imperia .
