San Lorenzo al Mare is a small coastal village on the Riviera di Ponente . His settlement area runs along the coast as well as in the hilly hinterland and has the shape of an anchor with two town centers from a bird's eye view . In terms of area, with a little more than one square kilometer of common land, it is the smallest municipality in the province, but ranks sixth in terms of population density . San Lorenzo al Mare is about six kilometers away from the provincial capital Imperia .
