Pud (unit)

Pud was a Russian measure of weight.

• 1 pud = 40 pounds (Russian) = 16.38 kilograms
• 10 puds = 1 Berkowetz / Berkowitz (ship pound) = 1 Seipud

The number of poods on one load was different. The goods were decisive. Examples:

• 1 load = 60 poods of hemp fiber , flax fiber , horse hair
• 1 load = 70 poods of elk skins
• 1 load = 80 poods of yarn , aniseed , caraway seeds
• 1 load = 88 puds Yuchten
• 1 load = 100 poods of wax , soap , violin resin
• 1 load = 120 puds of potash , oil , tallow , bristles , caviar , iron

When grain is counted 8 to 10 Pud and flour were needed 9 ¹ / ₃  Pud a Kuhl or sack.
