Pumpernudl is part of the Upper Bavarian community of Rudelzhausen in the Freising district . The agricultural hamlet is located on a hill in the Hallertau region . It currently has 22 residents. The place name goes back to a Hans the Pumperlurer mentioned in a parish manuscript in 1491.

Even if the origin of the name is not certain, the place information board is still very popular as a souvenir.

Pumpernudl shares its strange-sounding name with the almost identically spelled Einöde Pumpernudel (municipality of St. Wolfgang ) in the neighboring district of Erding .
