Punch out !! on Micro vs. System ( Game & Watch family)

Punch out !! is an arcade boxing game developed by Nintendo in 1984 . It was the most popular game in 1984, had several successors and already had voice output.

Game description

The player must compete against six cartoon-like opponents in a boxing duel . His figure is shown as a green wire frame model so that he can better recognize the opponents through his body. The input is made via a 4-way joystick and 3 buttons (hit with left arm, right arm and uppercut / uppercut). The latter is done using a larger button and can only be performed if there are enough hits. This is indicated by a flashing KO display and the voice of a referee. The arcade machine has two monitors standing on top of one another, the top one only showing statistical data and pictures of the boxers.

opponent

  1. Glass Joe (from Paris, name derived from glass jaw)
  2. Piston Hurricane (from Havana)
  3. Bald Bull ("Mad Man from Istanbul")
  4. Kid Quick (from Brooklyn)
  5. Pizza Pasta (from Napoli)
  6. Mr. Sandman (boss from Philadelphia, similar to Joe Frazier , in some versions as Mike Tyson or Mr. Dream)

The opponents are of course getting stronger and faster. Everyone has their own technique and funny comments. Some boxers appear in several games and sometimes there were also merchandising products.
