Punta Clarkson is a headland on the Bowman Coast of Graham Land on the Antarctic Peninsula . It protrudes into the Larsen Ice Shelf at the eastern end of the Joerg Peninsula .
A dog sled team of the United States Antarctic Service Expedition (1939-1941) explored the eastern end of the Joerg Peninsula in December 1940. Argentine scientists named the headland in 1946. This naming was followed in 1947 by Chilean scientists. Both preserved the original name of the Joerg Peninsula as Clarkson Point . It is named after Cora G. Clarkson (1898–1981), aunt of Harry Darlington III. (1918–1996), youngest participant in the United States Antarctic Survey Expedition.
