Punta Gutiérrez ( Spanish ; in Argentina Punta Maipú ) is a comparatively low and completely snow-covered headland at the northern end of the east coast of Bryde Island off the Danco coast of Graham Land on the Antarctic Peninsula . It marks the eastern limit of the entrance from Paradise Harbor into Alvaro Bay .
Scientists of the 5th Chilean Antarctic Expedition (1950–1951) named it. It is named after Pedro Gutiérrez Forno, engineer on the Lautaro ship on this research trip . The background of the Argentine naming is not known. Probable namesake is the battle of Maipu .
