The Pup Rock is a cliff with a diameter of 200 m off the Fallières coast of Graham Land on the Antarctic Peninsula . In Rymill Bay it lies between the Refuge Islands and the Tiber Rocks .
The American geologist Robert Leslie Nichols (1904-1995) discovered him in the course of the Ronne Antarctic Research Expedition (1947-1948) and named him as Three Pup Island (English for three- puppy island ). The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee shortened this name in 1962 while adapting it to the object type for reasons of convenience.
