The Purgatory Pond ( English for purgatory pool ) is a small pool in the Denton Hills of the East Antarctic Victoria Land . It lies east of Penance Pass and around 2.5 km southeast of Lake Buddha .
Scientists in a campaign carried out by Victoria University's Antarctic Expeditions from 1960 to 1961 named it based on the naming scheme of other geographical objects in the area.
