The Purog Kangri (also Purog Kangri I ) is a 6436 m high mountain in Shuanghu in the Tibet Autonomous Region .
The Purog Kangri is located in a group of mountains in the deserted steppe of the Changthang and has not yet been climbed. However, there was an expedition near the mountain in 2009 and 2011. The mountain group cannot really be assigned to a larger mountain range, as it is located south of the Kunlun Shan and north of the Gangdise Shan .
According to the Chinese news agency Xinhua , the glacier of the Purog Kangri mountain range is the third largest plateau glacier in the world after the Antarctic glacier and the Greenland ice sheet .
The city of Qiemo in Xinjiang serves as the starting point for an expedition .
