The Pushkar Lake ( Hindi पुष्कर झील Puṣkar Jhīl ) is a small man-made lake near the city of Ajmer in the Aravalli Mountains in the Indian state of Rajasthan . It is one of the most sacred waters in India.

History and legends
According to ancient texts and inscriptions, Lake Pushkar is already known as the 4th century BC. Mentioned. During the decline of the Mughal Empire, several Rajput princes founded new temples or bank fortifications ( ghats ) .
