The Putana is a Stratovolcano ( 5890  m peak height) in the Andes in northern Chile, at the border with Bolivia. It has a summit crater with a diameter of 500 m, which consists of two inner craters. One in the center with 130 m and the other near the northeast flank with 300 m diameter. Its fumarole activity at the summit crater has been observed from far away since the early 19th century. The emission flags are 100 to 500 m high. There are no historical reports on its activity and little research has been done on it, due to its remoteness and poor accessibility. Gas emissions were measured for the first time in 2012. The gas temperature is around 85 ° C. The SO 2 emissions are 36 to 121 tons per day.
