The Pyšný štít (Polish Durny Szczyt , German Swallow Tower , Hungarian Fecsketorony ) is with 2621  m nm the fifth highest mountain in Slovakia , the High Tatras and the entire Carpathian Mountains .

The elevation lies above the valley Malá Studená dolina (German Small Kohlbachtal ) and its upper end at the Spiš Five Lakes (Slovak Päť Spišských plies ). The mountain falls there with a 250 meter high wall. On the eastern slope, the Pyšný štít falls with a wall about 400 meters high to the Medená kotlina (German copper kettle ). The mountain is separated from the neighboring Malý Pyšný štít ( 2590  m nm ) by two notches and the Loktibrada rock needle in between .

The name of the mountain in Polish and Slovak is probably derived from the "proud" (Slovak pyšný , Goral durny ) appearance of the elevation. The German and Hungarian names, however, kept the name derived from the swallows , whose Slovak equivalent (Lastovičia veža) is now out of use.

The first ascent took place on August 6, 1877 by Edmund Téry and the mountaineer Martin Spitzkopf . The first winter ascent took place on March 27, 1910 by Eduard Hrubý, Oskar Jordán, Roman Komarnicki and Eugen Serényi.

Despite its height, the Pyšný štít stands in the shadow of the nearby Lomnicky Peak ( 2634  m nm ). The mountain can only be climbed with a mountain guide, the easiest climb is from the Téry hut .
