The Téryho chata (German Tery hut , Polish Schronisko Téryego , Hungarian Hunfalvy-hágó alatti menedékház ) is a mountain hut in the Slovak High Tatras . It is located at the upper end of the Malá studená dolina (German Small Cold Water Valley ) and the Kotlina Päť Spišských plies (German five- lake basin ) at an altitude of 2015 m / m. Thus, according to the Chata pod Rysmi (2250 m / M.) (German: Hut under the Meeraugspitze ) the second highest mountain hut in the High Tatras or in Slovakia.
history
The mountain hut was built in 1899 by the Hungarian Carpathian Association . The initiative came from Edmund Viliam Téry (1856–1917), a Hungarian doctor and mountaineer from Schemnitz , who was also a promoter of mountain tourism and mountaineering in Hungary. The architect was Gedeon Majunke (1854–1921) from Georgenberg .
Until 1918 the Tery hut was the highest mountain hut in Hungary, then Czechoslovakia. After the hut was built under the Meeraugspitze , it is the second highest. It has been in operation all year round since 1936 and is therefore the highest shelter in Czechoslovakia that is accessible all year round and, since 1993, in Slovakia.
