Pyhrn-Schoberachse
The Pyhrn-Schoberachse is a north-south railway corridor in Austria , which is of great importance for freight traffic. It is named after the Pyhrnbahn and the Schoberpass .
The Pyhrn-Schober axis runs similarly to the Pan-European Transport Corridor X from the border stations Passau / Summerau ( Summerauer Bahn ) via Linz , Selzthal , Bruck an der Mur to Graz and from there via the southern railway to Slovenia or the Styrian Eastern Railway to Hungary.
An expansion of the axis has been planned since the 1990s. Pyhrnbahn Linz – Selzthal is currently being expanded.
Only the Selzthal – Graz section is still served by long-distance trains. From 2005 to 2008 the EuroCity “ Jože Plečnik ” traveled the Pyhrn-Schober axis from Prague to Ljubljana.
