Pyramidula cephalonica is a species of snail in the family of pyramid snails (Pyramidulidae) from the suborder of land snails (Stylommatophora).

features

The right-hand winding case is low-conical, it measures up to 1.8 mm in height and 2.6 mm in width. The 4½ turns increase regularly and are separated from each other by a deep seam. They are well rounded on the periphery. The last turn is butt-edged at the base. The open umbilicus takes up at least a third of the width of the case. The mouth is oblong and relatively small. The edge of the mouth is straight and turned over in the area of ​​the navel.

The housing is yellowish brown. The surface of the Teleoconch shows clear strips of growth that can be reinforced almost like ribs. The protoconch is almost smooth.

Similar species

The strongly flattened housing resembles Pyramidula pusilla in the height / width index , but has a coarser streaking and a wider navel.

Distribution area of ​​the species

Geographical distribution and habitat

The distribution area extends from northern Dalmatia, Bulgaria to Greece and western Turkey. They live there on chalky subsoil.

Taxonomy

The taxon was of Carl Agardh Westerlund as patula (Pyramidula) rupestris (Stud. Drp.) Var. Cephalonica erected. The taxon is widely recognized.
