Pyrrhias of Etolia ( Greek  Πυρρίας ) was an Etolian general.

He was by his countrymen during the Social War (220-217 v. Chr.) By Elis sent to take command there. Here he took advantage of the absence of Philip V of Macedonia and the inability of the Achaean strategos Eperatos to commit frequent raids on the Achaean territory. After he had established a fortified position on Mount Panachaikon , he devastated the country as far as Rhion and Aigion .

The next year (217 BC) Pyrrhias planned an invasion of Messenia with Lycurgus , King of Sparta . However, he failed in the execution of his plan because he was defeated at Kyparissia before he could unite his troops with those of the Lycurgus. After his return to Elis he was ordered back by the Aetolians because the Eleans were dissatisfied with his behavior. He was replaced by Euripidas.

209 BC In BC Pyrrhias received the office of strategos of the Aetolians, and in the same year this office was also awarded as an honorary title to Attalus I , king of Pergamon . In the spring of that year Pyrrhias advanced with an army to Lamia to prevent Philip V from breaking through from Macedonia to the Peloponnese. Despite military support from both Attalus and the Roman praetor Publius Sulpicius Galba Maximus , he was defeated by Philip in two successive battles. He then had to hide inside the walls of Lamia. 200 BC He headed an Aetolian embassy that met in Herakleia with Attalus and the Roman legate Lucius Apustius to consult against Philip V.
