The Q19 shopping district Döbling is a shopping center in the 19th district of Vienna Döbling , right on Grinzinger Straße. The name stands for the Q uartier in 19 . Viennese district.

History and architecture

The old building was one of the first reinforced concrete buildings in Vienna and was built in 1909 by the Württemberg industrial architect Philipp Jakob Manz , who was known at the time for the size of the construction projects he planned and the speed of the construction process. It housed the J. Schnabl cigarette paper factory, and later Samum. Today the building is a listed building ( list entry ). With the takeover of the PamPam chain in 2001, the historic factory building became the property of the SPAR Austria Group . The building was extensively renovated and expanded: this required numerous adaptation measures and an investment of around 51 million euros. 340 windows were replaced in the old building and the stone plaster facade was extensively restored. The new part of the building was also connected to the listed building with an approximately 100-meter-long glass facade.
