Q22 in 2016
Demolition of the previous building in September 2012

The Q22 is a high-rise office building under construction in downtown Warsaw . The construction site is located at the intersection of Aleja Jana Pawła II and Grzybowska Street . The previous hotel Mercure ("Fryderyk Chopin"), an Accor hotel by the architect Juliusz Rouby from 1993, was demolished in 2012. Construction work on the Q22 began in summer 2013.

The development company for the new building is the Kielc company Echo Investment SA. Some of the architecture comes from Stefan Kuryłowicz, who died in 2011, and his architectural office Kuryłowicz & Associates . Buro Happold Polska is also involved. To 98.5 million zloty -Order for the shell, the company received Modzelewski & Rodek . The finished building will be 155 meters high (195 meters with antenna) and offer around 50,000 square meters of office space and 350 parking spaces. There are five underground and 42 above-ground floors.

The rubble from the demolished previous building was largely reprocessed, according to Echo Investment ; 1,500 tons of steel and 25,000 tons of concrete aggregate were obtained in this way. According to the client, the letter “Q” in the building name stands for “quality” (of design and construction) as well as for “quartz”, a crystal of pure and perfect structure that the design of the new building is supposed to be reminiscent of. Completion of the building, which is estimated at around 500 million złoty of construction costs, is planned for the first quarter of 2016.
