Qalyub ( Arabic قليوب, DMG Qalyūb ) is a city in the Nile Delta of Egypt within the governorate al-Qalyubiyya with approx. 150,000 inhabitants. The city is located in the northern part of the agglomeration of Cairo and therefore has an above-average population growth. Qalyub is the trading center for a significant agricultural region, and some records suggest that Qalyub has had a regular farmers market for nearly a thousand years.
In 2015, 58 people died in the Qaliub railway accident in the city.
