Qazaq (newspaper)

Qazaq ( Kazakh قازاق, Cyrillic Қазақ ) was a Kazakh language newspaper in the Russian Empire . She was considered the mouthpiece of the leaders of the Alash Orda .

history

The first edition of the newspaper appeared on February 2, 1913 in Orenburg . Initially published only once a week, from 1915 it was published twice a week. The editors of the paper were Achmet Baitursynuly , Älichan Bökeichan and Mirschaqyp Dulatuly . The print run was 3,000 copies in the first year of publication, later the print run exceeded 8,000 copies.

The newspaper mainly printed articles dealing with the life of the Kazakh people under the rule of the Tsar. In Qazaq, for example, the question of choosing between nomadic and sedentary lifestyles, the role of Islam in Kazakh society, the preservation of the Kazakh language and the development of Kazakh culture and literature were discussed. In addition to the editors of the paper, a number of other well-known personalities, including Muchamechan Tynyshbayuly , Shaqyp Aqbayev , Maghshan Shumabai , Chalel Dosmuchamedow and Mustafa Shoqai, published articles in the newspaper.

The last edition of the newspaper appeared on September 26, 1918.
