The Hockenheim 200 km race in 1971 , also known as the Südwest-Pokal (Interserie), Hockenheim , took place on July 4th at the Hockenheimring and was the third race of the Interseries of that year.

The race

The race in Hockenheim was the third race on the race track south of Mannheim since the racing series was introduced in 1970 . The 1970 Hockenheim 200 km race was won by Vic Elford in a McLaren M6B . The 1970 season ended with the success of Helmut Kelleners in March 707 .

The 1971 200 km race ended with Derek Bell's overall victory in a McLaren M8E . The second placed Leo Kinnunen took the lead in the overall championship standings.
