Marsilio Pasotti

Marsilio Pasotti (* 1939 in Lumezzane ; † August 2, 1989 ) was an Italian racing driver .

Career

Pasotti, who almost exclusively competed under the pseudonym Pam , began his racing career in club races in Italy in the late 1950s. In 1962 he became a works driver at Abarth and that year won the Coppa Cittá di Enna , a run for the sports car world championship . He also won the Coppa Carri in Monza . In 1963 he triumphed again, this time in a Fiat-Abarth 1000 , in a race of the sports car world championship when he won the Coppa Maifredi , a GT race on a 16.4 km circuit on Lake Garda .

In 1966 he repeated his victory at the Coppa Cittá di Enna. At this point he had already left Abarth and competed in GT and sports car races for the Italian racing team Scuderia Brescia Corse . He stayed with this racing team until the end of his career.

In 1971 he drove the Scuderia's Ferrari 512M in the world championship and, together with Mario Casoni, came fourth in the 1000 km race in Zeltweg . In 1973 he had his only appearance at the 24 Hours of Le Mans , because he finished 15th in the overall standings. He celebrated his last success in 1977 when he finished seventh at the Targa Florio .

Marsilio Pasotti died on August 2, 1989 at the age of 50 after a long illness. In addition to his activities as a racing driver, he was also a well-known designer of sailing boats on Lake Garda.
