Qingdao Huanghai Football Club (Simplified Chinese: 黄海 足球 俱乐部; Traditional Chinese: 青島 黃海 足球 俱樂部 y; Pinyin: Qīngdǎo Huánghǎi Zúqiú Jùlèbù) is a professional Chinese football club. The team is based in Qingdao ( Shandong ) and its home stadium is the Guoxin Stadium Qingdao with 45,000 seats. The club is majority owned by Shenzhen Hengye Investment Group Co. , Which took over the team in early 2019.
history
Qingdao Hainiu was founded on January 29, 2013 by former Shandong players and coaches including Qi Wusheng as chairman, Hao Haidong as general manager, and Su Maozhen as general manager, with the financial support of 20 million yuan from Qingdao Central Plaza Business Management . The club chose the name Hainiu (海牛), which means "The Bulls of the Sea", which was also once used by Qingdao Jonoon , another football club in Qingdao, between 1994 and 2004 in hopes of the golden era of football in the city recall. The club started in the third highest division in 2013 and in the same year it was promoted to the second division.
On January 31, 2015, the acquired Qingdao Huanghai Pharmaceutical Co . a share of 51% of the club. On July 3, 2015, Serbian player Goran Gogić collapsed and passed out during a training session with the club. He died the same day. Qingdao Hainiu finished 11th in the 2015 season. On December 30, 2015, Qingdao Hainiu FC changed its name to Qingdao Huanghai FC after Qingdao Huanghai Pharmaceutical Co. took full responsibility for the club. Qingdao Huanghai reached third place in the 2016 season under Spanish coach Jordi Vinyals , just barely missing out on promotion to the Chinese Super League .
At the beginning of 2019, 63% of the shares were bought by the Shenzhen Hengye Investment Group Co.
