history

In 1972 Hans-Dieter Hoffmann, Helmut Pabel, Horst Enders and Friedel Hofmann founded the company all-Akustik in Hanover for the distribution of consumer electronics. Companies such as Luxman and Sansui as hi-fi component manufacturers, Fujifilm with audio / video cassettes and camcorders, Citizen and the record player manufacturer Micro Seiki ensured that all-Akustik became one of the largest German hi-fi distributors. After own loudspeakers had already been marketed under the names all and quand , a new loudspeaker brand was introduced in 1973 with quadral. In 1981, the Titan I developed by Helmut Schaper was tested with outstanding results and held the top position in the specialist magazine Stereoplay as a reference model in its three stages of development for over eight years.

The Titan III was named Device of the Year 1987 by the readers of Hifi Vision magazine. In 1988 quadral developed and manufactured three loudspeaker models for Blaupunkt for their ArTech series. In the 1990s, LM traffic saw new product lines in the car hi-fi sector, in the multimedia and PC loudspeaker sector, as well as satellite receivers and antennas. Since 1992, sales have taken place uniformly under the name quadral, all-Akustik still serves as the parent company.

Schaper refined his development of the Titan until 1996 to the partially active version V. In 1998 Berndt Stark came from JBL and was in charge of loudspeaker development until he switched to Burmester Audiosysteme in 2005 . In 2000 quadral took over the German distribution of Nakamichi and Sherwood .

In 2006 quadral brought the Chinese manufacturer Hisense with flat screen televisions onto the German market. In 2009, Jürgen Brinkmann, Edmond Semmelhaack, Björn Semmelhaack and Stefan Eisenhardt, the second generation of shareholders, took over the management of the company.

In 2011, quadral started its own electronics series under the name Aurum, consisting of amplifiers and CD players handcrafted in Germany. At the same time, sales of the French hi-fi brand Advance Acoustic and the cable manufacturer Supra were taken over. The sound engineer Sascha Reckert , who previously worked for the company, became the chief developer .

Most models have their own loudspeaker chassis, which can be recognized by the brand-specific basket shape, e.g. B. ALTIMA membranes made of aluminum, titanium and magnesium, which have been tried and tested for many years. Also have ribbon speaker and magnetostats a long tradition at quadral and built since its establishment in various models.
