The Quam Heights are a mainly snow-covered mountain range of over 1000 m in the north of the East Antarctic Victoria Land . With a length of 24 km and with a width of 6.5 km it occupies the Pennell coast between the Barnett and Dennistoun glaciers .
The United States Geological Survey mapped the ridge on the basis of surveys and using aerial photographs of the United States Navy between 1960 and 1963. The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named it in 1970 after the American geologist Louis Otto Quam (1906-2001), chief scientist in the office of the National Science Foundation's Polar Program between 1967 and 1972.
