Quantz Collegium

The Quantz-Collegium is an ensemble founded in 1937 by the flautist Ernst Friedrich Wilhelm Bodensohn . The life and work of the famous flautist Johann Joachim Quantz serves as a model .

history

Since 1957 it has organized the summer concert series Festliche Serenaden Schloss Favorite in Schloss Favorite near Rastatt . The founder of the concert series, Ernst Friedrich Wilhelm Bodensohn led the group until 1991. His successor was Jochen Baier, who has been the ensemble's flautist since 1982.

Chamber music of the Baroque and Classical periods with the participation of the flute is a focus of the concert series. Works by lesser known composers are also repeatedly performed. Another special feature is that the performances take place in historical costumes. So far, a large number of musicians have performed works by over 200 composers in hundreds of concerts.
