Queen's Gallantry Medal

The Queen's Gallantry Medal (QGM) is a civilian award of the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth , which was donated on June 20, 1974 in one stage. The award is made for excellent and exemplary acts of bravery . So far, no more than 600 awards have been made.

Appearance and wearing style

The round silver medal with a diameter of 36 mm shows on its obverse the bust of the young Queen Elisabeth II looking to the left with the crown attached and the inscription ELISABETH II DEI GRATIA REGINA FD In the reverse the inscription THE / QUEEN 'S surmounted by a royal crown GALLANTRY / MEDAL , which is enclosed on both sides by laurel branches .

The award is carried on the upper left side of the chest of the recipient on a blue ribbon, in the middle of which a wide, white vertical central bar is woven, which in turn is traversed by a narrow red stripe.
