Queen: The eYe is an action-adventure - computer game , which in 1998 Electronic Arts has been released. The soundtrack consists entirely of songs by the rock group Queen , but these have been remixed specifically for the game . Album covers or people from Queen's lyrics also flowed into the story.

Storyline and gameplay

The game is set in the year 2140, when the world is ruled by a supercomputer called "The Eye". You play the agent Dubroc, who falls from grace on "The Eye" and is sentenced to death in the arena. From then on he sets out to destroy "The Eye". Some story elements had a noticeable influence on the later Queen musical We Will Rock You . In total, the player has to solve over 60 puzzles.

The game was released on 5 CD-ROMs; each has a level of the game. It is also possible to listen to the soundtrack on any CD as a normal audio CD.

Failure and graph

Despite the popularity of Queens, the game sold rather poorly. The main reasons for this were that the game was not advertised enough in advance and that the graphics were already out of date when the game was released. This contained rendered SVGA backgrounds and complex animations that were created using the motion capture process .

In 1998 Smithmark published a 160-page book on the game with over 300 illustrations and a CD-ROM with music.
