Barbara Zakrzewska

Barbara Zakrzewska-Nikiporczyk (born January 1, 1946 in Poznan ) is a Polish composer.

Zakrzewska studied composition with Florian Dąbrowski at the Poznan Music Academy until 1969 . This was followed by a study of library science and computer science at the University of Poznan until 1974 . From 1972 she worked in the musical collections section of the university, which she headed from 1980 to 1999. Since 1984 she was also head of the special collections department.

Scholarships enabled her to study at the Institute for Sonology in Utrecht (1981), Oxford University (1985) and in the USA (1987). She has been the librarian for the Polish Music Reference Center at the University of Southern California since 1998 .

Zakrzewska has published several music and library science books and articles, as well as more than 60 musical works.
