The stripe dwarf harlequin ( Danio erythromicron ) is a species of fish from the family of carp-like fish (Cyprinidae). It is endemic to Inle Lake in Myanmar .

features

The stripe dwarf harlequin is a small fish about 2 centimeters long. Their basic color is blue with a scarlet glow, with the back being darker than the sides and belly. There are about twelve blue vertical stripes on the sides and a round black spot with a pale border lies on the tail stalk. Dead fish appear pure gray with black stripes. The gill covers are colorless and appear purple-red through the gills . The pectoral fins (pectorals) are colorless or very weakly and indistinctly colored, the basal halves of the other fins are reddish. Occasionally there is a red stripe on the back of the anal fin . The scales are big and thin. The females are similar but less strongly colored.

There are 21 to 25 scales along the sidelines. Like many other Asian carp fish, Danio erythromicron has 3 rows of pharyngeal teeth with 2/3/5 teeth. The number of Wibel is 32 (16 + 16). The caudal fin has 9 main rays above and below. Anal : 13–16 rays.

Systematics

The stripe dwarf harlequin was originally described by Nelson Annandale in 1918 as Microrasbora erythromicron . As a result, some authors placed the species in the genus Danio due to morphological characteristics . More recent molecular biological studies have shown that the genus Microrasbora is polyphyletic , so that the assignment of Danio erythromicron to the genus Danio is now considered to be certain.
