The Quimera AEGT ( A ll  E lectric  G ran  T urismo) is a purely electrically powered GT - racing cars of Quimera Responsible Racing , the motorsport department of research and development consortium Quimera .

The sports car prototype with the identifier  -01 was first presented to the public on July 26, 2011 on the Motorland Aragón race track near Alcañiz in Spain . A further development called EVO II is currently being planned.

technology

The Quimera AEGT is powered by three electric motors with a total of 255 kW (347 PS) continuous and 525 kW (714 PS) maximum output. The engine torque is electronically limited to 700 Nm due to the gearbox design. The power is transmitted to the rear axle via a sequential six-speed Hewland NLT transmission . The gearbox and final drive are located in a transaxle housing .

The high-voltage system is designed for an operating voltage of 380 V DC ; lithium-ion polymer accumulators consisting of 1362 individual cells are used as traction batteries . The battery modules have a total weight of 612 kg and are built into the sills so that they can be exchanged as quickly as possible during pit stops . With one battery charge , an operating time of around 20 to 30 minutes is possible when racing.

The chassis and body parts of the gullwing are made of carbon fiber reinforced plastic (carbon). The total weight of the vehicle is 1500 kg, resulting in a power-to-weight ratio of 2.85 kg / kW. The car accelerates from 0–100 km / h in 3.5 s, and the top speed is 300 km / h.

commitment

Since the beginning of 2012, the International Motor Sports Association (IMSA), the American Le Mans Series (ALMS) and Quimera have been planning to introduce a new international racing series for vehicles without internal combustion engines. As a research and development vehicle, the Quimera AEGT is intended to show in advance the possibilities of a purely electric drive in a racing series in order to win over other vehicle manufacturers, investors and spectators for this motor sport known as green racing .

The racing series has not yet been established (as of October 2014).
