Quique Dacosta (* 1972 in Jarandilla de la Vera , Spain ) is a Spanish chef .

Life

At the age of fourteen, Dacosta followed his mother to Dénia , which is in the tourist region of Costa Blanca in the Alicante province of the Valencian Community . There he started as a dishwasher, worked in a pizzeria and in the following years went through the school of various restaurants, tapas bars and grills.

In 1991 he opened his restaurant El Poblet in Dénia, where he was able to realize his ideas about the preparation of dishes and their presentation. Since then, Dacosta has received dozens of awards for its culinary art. His restaurant has been called Quique Dacosta since November 2009 and is one of eleven (as of August 2018) Spanish restaurants that have been awarded three Michelin stars. The chef attaches great importance to the fact that the raw materials for his kitchen come from local production within a radius of no more than 75 kilometers.

Dacosta writes in the haute cuisine magazine Apicius .
