history

Radio programs have been broadcast in the Faroe Islands since 1957 . Until Rás 2 started broadcasting, however, there was only one radio station on the islands, the public Útvarp Føroya (ÚF). On December 14, 1999, Rás 2 finally started broadcasting. In 2002 a journalist and an intern worked at the station. In September 2007 Rás 2 was bought by the Miðlavarpið company, which in turn is owned by Sosialurin. As a result, Rás 2 moved to Miðlahúsið in Vágsbotni, where Sosialurin was already based.

In addition to news, sports, discussion and information programs, the station primarily plays a mix of different musical styles. Rás 2 can be received in most of the archipelago and broadcasts daily from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m.

In addition to the two mentioned, the radio stations Lindin (2000), VoxPop (2013) and KissFM (2014) have since started operations. All channels can also be received via a live stream on the Internet.
