Erwin Jaeckle

Erwin Jaeckle (born August 12, 1909 in Zurich , † October 2, 1997 ibid) was a Swiss writer , journalist and politician .

Life

Jaeckle studied philosophy and German literature and received his doctorate in 1937 from the University of Zurich on Rudolf Pannwitz . He first worked as an editor at Atlantis Verlag and married in 1941. From 1943 to 1971 he was editor-in-chief of the daily newspaper Die Tat , and from 1962 to 1977 editor of the cultural supplement Literary Tat . He belonged to the core of the Zurich “Friday Round” - a literary circle that existed from 1942 to 1965 - together with Ernst Howald , Eduard Korrodi , Walther Meier , Max Rychner and Emil Staiger .

In 1937 he became a member of the newly founded state ring of the independents , for which he was in the municipal council of Zurich from 1942 to 1950 (1945 as its president) and from 1947 to 1962 in the national council .
