The Réservoir de l'Eastmain 1 is a reservoir in the Canadian province of Québec . Located on the Rivière Eastmain , it is part of the Baie James hydropower project .
Its water surface is 603 km², its water level fluctuates between 274 and 283 m. The associated dam Barrage de l'Eastmain-1 has a length of 890 m and a height of 70 m. Important tributaries of the reservoir are the Rivière Eastmain and a derivative of the Rivière Nemiscau , Rivière Lemare and Rivière Rupert .
The Eastmain-1 hydropower plant, completed in 2006, has three turbines with a total output of 507 MW and is located 14 km west of the dam. The neighboring Eastmain-1-A hydropower plant has been in operation since August 2011. It has three Francis turbines with a vertical axis, which together generate 768 MW.
