River course

The Río Cangaime rises in a sub-Andean mountain range up to 1900  m high at an altitude of about 1500  m . For the first ten kilometers it cuts through the ridge in an easterly direction and then turns towards the south-southeast. After about 80 kilometers, it cuts through a low ridge, turning 15 km to the east. Eventually the river reaches the western edge of the Amazon lowlands . It now flows 40 km to the south, then about 45 km towards the west-south-west and finally for the last 20 km to the south-west. In the Amazon lowlands, the river forms numerous river loops . The Río Cangaime joins the coming directly from the mountains of western Rio Mangosiza for Río Morona. An important tributary is the Río Macuma , which meets the Río Cangaime at 65 km from the east.
