Róbert Þór Sighvatsson (born November 13, 1972 ) is an Icelandic handball coach and former handball player . He took part in the 2004 Olympic Games with the Icelandic national team.

Career

Róbert Sighvatsson played in his home country for Mosfellsbær and Víkingur Reykjavík . In 1996 he moved to the German handball Bundesliga . After he played a season at TuS Schutterwald , the 1.92 meter long circle runner ran from 1997 for TSV Bayer Dormagen . When Dormagen voluntarily withdrew to the regional league in the summer of 2001 due to financial problems , Róbert Sighvatsson left the club and joined the second division HSG Düsseldorf . From 2002 to 2007 he played for the first division club HSG Wetzlar , where he led the training of the team from October 2006 after Dragan Marković's dismissal together with Wolfgang Klimpke until February 2007.

After the end of his playing career, Róbert Sighvatsson returned to Iceland, where he trades in building materials and also coaches the Víkingur Reykjavík team. He is married and has two sons.
