The X Stadium (also X-Stadion ) is the venue of the sports club FC Remscheid . It is the largest stadium in Remscheid and is in the Lennep district . The stadium's capacity is 12,463. There are 2,168 seats and 10,295 standing places. It is one of two stadiums in the Remscheid city area.

construction

The stadium is divided into four spectator blocks with the north curve, south curve, main stand and the back straight. The press stand is also located on the back straight. The main stand and the press stand are completely covered and have the only seats in the X-ray stadium. Each audience block can be reached via a separate entrance, the entrance to the north curve being the most important. The cabins are located at the entrance to the north curve. In addition to FC Remscheid, VfL 07 Lennep also uses them . Despite FC Remscheid's brief membership in the 2nd Bundesliga , the stadium has no floodlights. There is also a display board on the north curve.

history

The Röntgen Stadium was built in 1925 and had a capacity of 5,000 seats. In 1982 it was named after the son of the former town of Lennep , Wilhelm Conrad Röntgen . While the club was playing in the 2nd Bundesliga, the stadium was expanded.

A short time after the plane crash in Remscheid on December 8, 1988, a benefit match was played between FC Remscheid (at that time still under the name BVL 08 Remscheid) and FC Bayern Munich . Approx. 11,000 spectators saw a game that ended with a 3-0 for the team from Remscheid.

On May 6, 1989, another charity game took place in favor of the victims of December 8, 1988. In front of 4,000 spectators, a Bergische selection competed against a DFB selection, in which Franz Beckenbauer and Uwe Seeler, among others, played.

On July 15, 2003, a test match between Wuppertaler SV and FC Schalke 04 took place in front of 7,000 spectators. This game belongs to those with the highest number of spectators in the Röntgen Stadium without the participation of FC Remscheid.

During the test match between FC Remscheid and FC Schalke 04, it was announced that several stone steps in the south curve are dilapidated. The planned repairs will cost 20,000 euros and should be carried out in the 2009/10 season.
