The Rötensteinbrücke leads the federal highway 81 near Grünsfeld in the Main-Tauber district in Baden-Württemberg over the Rötensteingraben (also called Rödersteingraben ).
history
The Rötenstein Bridge had to be made of steel, as poor geological conditions required a large span. The construction work on the bridge over the Rötensteingraben near Grünsfeld began almost at the same time as the construction work on the Taubertal Bridge . In June 1971, Deutsche Asphalt GmbH installed the mastic asphalt pavement for the two lanes. Guest workers from Turkey, Greece and Morocco were deployed. The required asphalt was processed in a mixing plant in Werbach and brought to the construction site near Grünsfeld with 18 mobile asphalt digester hoists, where the asphalt was paved at 220 degrees Celsius. The construction of the bridge took 36 months and the construction costs amounted to 10.6 million marks.
According to experts, a new building will probably be necessary in the 2020s to 2030s despite expensive maintenance.
Construction
It is a 4-span steel bridge with 2-web T-beams with an orthotropic deck slab with a width of 30 meters between the railings. The bridge was built as a welded steel structure with screwed construction site joints.
Service station Ob der Tauber
Immediately north to northeast after the bridge, the Ob der Tauber rest area was built on both sides of the motorway .
