The Rücker GmbH is a dairy , which is one of the largest milk processors in Germany. It has its headquarters in the Aurich district of Egels . Rücker GmbH is one of two remaining dairies in East Friesland .
history
The company was founded on December 18, 1890 as a small dairy on Fehmarn by Eduard Rücker. Later he bought a dairy in Oldenburg in Holstein . His son Paul Rücker developed the small dairy into an already successful company. In 2013, in the fourth generation and personally managed by his son Klaus Rücker as the sole owner, the company was one of the largest private dairies in Germany with a turnover of 420 million euros.
Current development
The family company employs a total of around 500 people. The company's production is spread over two locations: Rücker GmbH in Aurich mainly produces white cheese, butter and milk powder. The Ostsee-Molkerei Wismar GmbH in Wismar is also part of Rücker and specializes in the production of semi-hard and naturally ripened cheese specialties, i.e. those made without the addition of colorings or preservatives. The Rücker dairy processes a total of around 850 million kilograms of milk every year. The milk is collected from around 900 farms in northern Germany. The annual production volume amounts to 90,000 tons of cheese, 20,000 tons of milk powder and 20,000 tons of butter, which are sold in over 80 countries. It is one of the leading white cheese producers worldwide. The product portfolio includes cheese specialties such as Alt-Mecklenburger , semi-hard cheeses and traditional shepherd's cheese (made from cow's milk ).
